In 2018, we can easily say that R&B is no longer one sound. When you ask someone who their favorite R&B singer is, you can get anything from Sadé, to Usher, to Pretty Ricky, to Genuine, to Kehlani and Bryson Tiller. Luckily, it’s not a problem. When we stumbled across producer and DJ duo CASHÆ, we knew 2018 was the year for alternative: the sounds that don’t quite fit in one genre but still make us feel good.
The duo is composed of Alex Abomb and Joseph Michael who both are from Miami. The two met in a sound recording class, Spring of 2014 and the rest was history. Since then, they’ve worked with artists including Tory Lanez, Kevin Gates and Torion, just to name a few. When their music is playing softly in the background of you procrastinating, Pop, EDM, nostalgic RnB, with Latin undertones come to mind with “easy on the ears” quickly becoming justified.
CASHÆ’s first single of the year is Pieces, a pop infused R&B tune featuring Atlanta based artist Cristina Quinones who gives the single an upbeat yet refreshing aurora. The @AAAfilmproductions produced video captures Cristina going through the trials and tribulations of a break up with a guy who can’t love her right. We follow her as she contemplates her decision throughout various places in her house, picking up the pieces of her relationship. While heartbreak doesn’t last forever, currently this single does as we have it on repeat.
